Clutch Common Faults and Replacement

What is it?

If the engine is running with clutch engaged and the transmission in neutral, the engine spins the input shaft of the transmission, but no power is transmitted to the wheels.

Where is it located?

The clutch is located between the engine and the gear box.

Indicators of faults:

Hard clutch pedal.
Clutch won’t release.
Clutch noise.
Slipping clutch.

Common faults:

Worn out plate faces.
Loose springs.
Misalignment.
Oil on driven-plate faces.
