Steering Rack Common Faults and Repair
What is it?
The steering rack is composed of a rack enclosed with a steering pinion. As the steering wheel is turned, the pinion moves and pushes the steering rack either to the left or right.
Where is it located?
It is connected internally to the steering wheel.
Indicators of faults:
Wheel shaking.
Power steering fluid leaking.
Noises.
A numb spot in the steering.
Car pulling.
Common faults:
Leaking or worn steering rack.
