Fuel Pump Common Faults and Repairs

What is it?

The fuel pump creates positive pressure in the fuel lines, pushing the gasoline to the engine.

Where is it located?

In many modern cars the fuel pump is usually electric and located inside the fuel tank.

Indicators of fault:

Sputtering at high speeds.
Loss of power during acceleration.
Loss of power to the vehicle while under stress.
Surging.
An engine that will not start.

Common faults:

Fuel pump failure.
