Glow Plug Replacement and Common Faults

What is it?

Glow plugs are pretty standard fare in diesel engines, being designed to act like small electric heaters, which glow and emit heat in the combustion chamber, warming the engine block and helping the engine to start far more easily.

Where is it located?

glow plugs, similar to spark plugs are found inside the engine block.

Indications of faults:

Slow starting and/or complete failure to start
rough idle
Engine hesitation
Lots of white smoke until warm

Common Faults:

Usually, glow plug failure is due to excessive heat, or high voltages reaching the plug.
